Overview

The IMME BECAS / HACEMOS North Texas Scholarship Program is administered by the Consulate General of México in Dallas to support postsecondary students in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The program provides one-time awards to students enrolled in two-year, four-year, and workforce education programs. Applicants must review the online form in full before beginning because the application must be completed and submitted in a single session. There is no option to save progress once the application is started.

Eligibility

Eligibility combines residency, academic performance, age limits, and enrollment plans that vary by program type. Applicants must reside in specified North Texas counties and meet minimum GPA and age requirements tailored to undergraduate/graduate and workforce education applicants. Enrollment expectations differ for academic and workforce programs and must align with the stated credit-hour or program requirements. Applicants should confirm they meet all criteria before beginning the application.

Eligibility:

• Residency: Current resident of North Texas counties (Dallas-area counties: Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hunt, Kaufman, Rockwall; Fort Worth-area counties: Hood, Johnson, Parker, Somervell, Tarrant, Wise).
• Minimum GPA: Cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
• Age and enrollment: Undergraduate/graduate applicants must be 25 or younger as of the deadline and plan to enroll full-time (12 credits undergraduate, 9 credits graduate). Workforce education applicants must be 35 or younger and plan to enroll in employability-focused technical or trade training.
• Confirm county of residence and GPA before applying.
• Age and enrollment requirements differ for academic vs. workforce applicants.
• Workforce programs include vocational training, certifications, apprenticeships, and HiSET preparation.

Award Value

Award amounts vary by program type and are determined for the 2026–2027 academic year by the scholarship program. Typical awards are $1,000 for two-year colleges, $2,000 for four-year institutions, and up to $1,000 for workforce education programs. Exact awards for workforce training depend on program cost and will not exceed $1,000. Awards are paid directly to the institution in which the recipient enrolls for the current academic year.

Award Value: Two-year college: $1,000; Four-year college or university: $2,000; Workforce education: up to $1,000, with final amount determined by program cost.

Application Process and Requirements

The application must be completed in a single session and all supporting documents must be submitted before the scholarship deadline for the application to be reviewed. Required materials include identity and residency proof, an official transcript, two recommendation letters, and a YouTube video that meets the program’s visibility requirements. The video must be Public or Unlisted; Private videos will not be reviewed. Applicants should gather all documents ahead of time and carefully review the entire online form before beginning.

Required Documents:

• Copy of ID or other record showing a Dallas–Fort Worth address to validate eligibility.
• Copy of the most recent school transcript (Spring 2026 or last semester attended).
• Two recommendation letters (one academic and one professional).
• YouTube video created per the application requirements; set visibility to Public or Unlisted so reviewers can access it.

Submission Notes: All documents must be received before the application deadline. The online form cannot be saved mid-application, so prepare materials in advance.

Selection Criteria and Payment

Recipients are selected based on a combination of academic merit, financial need, leadership, community involvement, work experience, personal statements, and any unusual family or personal circumstances. Awards are not renewable, but eligible students may reapply each year they meet the criteria. The selection panel evaluates each application holistically to determine the best use of limited funds. Award payments are made to the institution where the recipient enrolls for the academic year.
