Overview
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarship is applied for entirely through an online system. Applicants upload required supporting documents as part of their application, and a designated school official or counselor must complete a second portion of the application online.
Eligibility (Minimum Requirements)
To be considered for a Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarship, applicants must satisfy every item below:
- Be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Texas.
- Be a graduating high school senior from an eligible high school.
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is available beginning in December.
- Intend to enroll at an accredited, not‑for‑profit institution of higher education located in the State of Texas.
- Achieve the minimum required score on either the SAT or the ACT.
Key Dates
- December 1, 2025 — Online application becomes available.
- February 2, 2026 — Online application deadline at 7:59 p.m. (Because this deadline occurs after normal business hours, assistance may be limited; early submission is strongly recommended.)
- February 6, 2026 — Deadline for school official/counselor submission at 4:59 p.m.
- May 2026 — Notification of scholarship recipients.
- July 11, 2026 — Scholarship Recipient Celebration.
Application Process Notes
- The entire application is handled online; applicants must upload all supplemental documents during submission.
- After the applicant completes their portion, a school official or counselor will be required to submit the school’s portion online by the school official deadline.
