Texas UPMA Memorial Scholarship

Overview Each academic year Texas UPMA awards college scholarships to first-year college or trade school students who are descendants of current, retired, or deceased Texas UPMA members. The State Board of Directors sets scholarship amounts using funds from the previous year’s contributions, chapter fundraising, the endowment, and amounts budgeted by the Board. Who may apply - Eligible applicants are children, stepchildren, grandchildren, or step‑grandchildren of Texas UPMA members, retired Texas UPMA members, or deceased Texas UPMA members. - Applicants must be entering their first year of college, university, or an accredited trade school. Award conditions and selection criteria - Awards are contingent upon the recipient’s enrollment in an undergraduate program at an accredited college, university, or trade school. - Applications are evaluated primarily on character, academic achievement, leadership, and the ability to follow directions, with some consideration given to financial need. Applicants must demonstrate merit, a commitment to education, and the perseverance to achieve success. - Neat, careful presentation of the application is important; while elaborate materials are not required, sloppy submissions will be disadvantaged. Application period and deadline - Applications are accepted beginning January 1, 2026. - The Texas UPMA Memorial Scholarship Fund will accept applications postmarked between January 1 and April 28, 2026. - All applications must be received no later than May 13, 2026. Review and award announcement - A Scholarship Committee will review and judge the applications during the chapter’s annual state convention, considering financial need, extracurricular involvement, and scholastic records. - Scholarship recipients will be announced at the Texas UPMA state convention. - Applicants who are not selected will not receive individual notification.
