Introduction
The Massachusetts Elks Association supports charitable efforts to help deserving young men and women obtain the benefits of an undergraduate college education through a corporation organized under the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, known as Massachusetts Elks Scholarship Inc. The program awards grants to applicants who demonstrate financial need, academic promise, and good citizenship. Awards may be renewed each year provided the recipient continues to show financial need and satisfactory academic performance.
Eligibility
1. Awards are intended to assist students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at a four (4) year undergraduate college.
2. Funds will not be used to support enrollment in night schools, professional schools, vocational schools, graduate programs, or for attendance as a part-time college or university student.
3. Applicants must have the endorsement of the jurisdictional lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, or the lodge to which the applicant’s parent or guardian belongs.
4. Candidates must be graduates of an accredited high school.
5. No applicant will be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, creed, or gender.
6. Applications will not be reviewed until a complete submission is received, including all required supporting documents.
7. The application must bear the dated signature of the Exalted Ruler or Secretary and the Lodge Scholarship Chairman of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge in the jurisdiction where the applicant resides or of which the parent/guardian is a member.
8. All submissions must be made on the official Massachusetts Elks Scholarship application forms.
