This region’s economic strength grew from its metals sector, and that legacy of innovation continues. We fund students who are pursuing full-time undergraduate degrees in engineering, mathematics, metals, or technology—supporting driven future leaders who will help power the regional economy.

Award Information
- Typical awards for college and university students range from $10,000 to $15,000 per year.
Which Programs Qualify
Applicants must be enrolling in, or accepted to, a full-time four-year undergraduate program in engineering, mathematics, metals, or technology. Eligible majors include (but are not limited to) those fields and related disciplines. The program list is updated periodically to reflect changes in these areas; if you are uncertain whether your major qualifies, email us at apply@perrymanfoundation.org.
Residency Area
Applicants must currently live in one of the eligible counties in Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, Northern West Virginia, Northern Virginia, Western Maryland, or Chautauqua County, New York. (A full list of eligible counties is available online.)
Required Candidate Criteria
To be eligible, you must:
- Be a United States citizen.
- Be a current or prospective student pursuing a full-time, four-year undergraduate degree in an eligible field.
- Have completed no more than five years of undergraduate study.
- Not have a connection to the Perryman Company or Perryman Family Foundation through board membership, current employment, or close family relationships.
- Reside currently in one of the eligible counties listed above.
Preferred (But Not Mandatory) Qualifications
The following strengthen an application but are not required:
- Planning to attend, or currently attending, a college or university located in one of the eligible counties.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Possession of a high school diploma or an equivalent credential (for example, a GED or a federally approved Ability to Benefit Test).
