Rubber Division Scholarship

Introduction
The Rubber Division, ACS awards two undergraduate scholarships of $5,000 each to students who will be entering their junior or senior year for the upcoming fall–spring academic year. In addition, the former Connecticut Rubber Group sponsors the $5,000 Russell Mazzeo Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship in memory of Russ Mazzeo and his nearly 50 years of service and commitment to education and the rubber community. Each scholarship recipient receives up to $5,000 to apply toward tuition costs for the academic year.
Application deadline
All application materials must be received or postmarked by March 1 of each year.

Eligibility
- Applicants must be entering their junior or senior year in the upcoming fall–spring academic year.
- Candidates must have completed at least three semesters (or six terms) of undergraduate study.
- A cumulative academic average of B or better for all undergraduate coursework is required.
- Students must be enrolled in a fully accredited college or university located in a country where Rubber Division, ACS maintains a resident subdivision or partner organization: currently the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, or India.
- Acceptable majors include, but are not limited to: chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, polymer science, or other technical disciplines relevant to the rubber industry.
- Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing full-time professional employment in the rubber industry upon graduation and show potential for a productive technical career.
Application materials and process
- Complete the scholarship application (online or paper) and submit it by the March 1 deadline.
- Provide two nomination (recommendation) letters as required in the application materials (see Section 2).
- Official transcripts must be sent directly from the applicant’s college or university to the mailing address specified in the application packet; these transcripts must be received by March 1.
- Keep a copy of your full application package for your records.
Additional rules and award details
- Previous applicants, including prior scholarship recipients, are eligible to reapply during their senior year for a second and final year of consideration.
- Scholarship funds are $5,000 per award and are intended to cover one academic year (fall and spring semesters). Payments are made directly to the recipient’s college or university to be applied toward tuition.
- No immediate family member of anyone involved in administering the scholarship program or selecting recipients is eligible to receive an award.
- Recipients will be designated as a “Rubber Division, ACS Scholar.”
