Young Trailblazers Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Live Out Loud
Introduction
The LIVE OUT LOUD Young Trailblazers Scholarship offers financial assistance to LGBTQAI+ young people who demonstrate financial need. The award helps cover education-related costs for those pursuing a credential from an accredited college, university, or technical/vocational program. This cycle Live Out Loud is awarding scholarships of $5,000.00 each.
Eligibility
- Self-identify as part of the LGBTQAI+ community.
- Be a resident of New York State.
- Be continuing education after high school graduation — this includes degree programs at colleges or universities, vocational/trade schools, and certification or licensing programs (examples: esthetician/cosmetology school, medical assistant program, X-ray technician certification, performing arts training, etc.).
Application requirements
To be considered, applicants must submit:
1. The completed application form.
2. The required essay and any other requested formatted responses.
3. Two letters of recommendation.
Submission instructions
- All application materials must be sent electronically.
- Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
Letters of recommendation
- Provide two recommendation letters from academic or organizational professionals who can speak to your demonstrated commitment to LGBTQAI+ issues or your potential to be a bold leader.
- Referees should email their letters directly to Live Out Loud’s Educational Program Coordinator, Nicholas Hastings, at nicholas@liveoutloud.org.
Selection process and interviews
- Finalists will be invited to an individual virtual interview; interviews will be scheduled during February and March 2026.
- Scholarship recipients are chosen by the Live Out Loud Scholarship Committee based on the eligibility and application criteria.
Award disbursement
- Awards will only be issued after Live Out Loud has received all required documentation, including the acceptance letter from the institution you will attend and verification of your enrollment from the admissions office.
- Scholarship funds are paid directly to the educational institution and will not be released until attendance is confirmed.
