Overview
The Lyndsey Scott Coding+ Scholarship provides financial support for undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree in computer science, with an emphasis on applicants who code. Its mission is to nurture a new generation of well-rounded computer scientists who blend technical expertise with other passions to create innovative, real-world impact. The program places particular priority on increasing representation and opportunity for LGBTQIA+, women, and BIPOC students.
Who can apply
Applicants must be majoring in computer science and also be actively pursuing interests outside of computing. The scholarship is especially intended for LGBTQIA+, women, and/or BIPOC students, though all eligible applicants who meet the criteria described are encouraged to apply.
Application requirements
To apply, submit a written statement that describes:
- Your goals in computer science (for example: software engineering, programming, or related coding work).
- Your non-computer-science interests or ambitions.
- How you envision combining your CS goals with those other pursuits in the future.

Past recipients and finalists typically demonstrated the following attributes:
- Careful attention to the application prompt and the scholarship’s instructions.
- A clear focus on computing and coding (software engineering, programming, or similar).
- Distinct, well-defined interests outside of CS that have been enhanced by their technical skills.
- Concrete evidence of achievement tied to the scholarship criteria, or a persuasive description of future plans accompanied by specific steps already being taken to reach those aims.
The Lyndsey Scott Coding+ Scholarship seeks applicants who will leverage computer science to amplify diverse perspectives and create novel contributions across disciplines.
