Ronna Bucci and Dr. Charles Dietz Art Scholarship

Introduction
The Ronna Bucci and Dr. Charles Dietz Art Endowment Fund was created in memory of Ronna Bucci and Dr. Charles Dietz to support emerging visual artists. Each year the Fund awards a single scholarship to a highly qualified graduating senior from a Muskingum County high school or home school program. In addition to the monetary scholarship, the recipient will receive a copy of Dr. Dietz’s book and a sample of Ronna Bucci’s artwork. The scholarship is granted once and is not renewable.
Eligibility
- Open to graduating seniors from Muskingum County high schools or home school programs.
- Candidates must be planning to pursue a degree in a visual arts discipline at a college, university, or institute.
- Students intending to major in Performing Arts are not eligible.
- Nomination by the student’s art teacher (or an instructor familiar with the applicant’s visual art work) is required.
Nomination and Recommendations
- Art teachers or instructors may nominate more than one student.
- The nomination or recommendation form must be completed by someone knowledgeable about the nominee’s artistic abilities, preferably the art instructor.
- Recommendation/nomination forms are confidential and will not be shared with applicants.
Selection Criteria
Recipients are chosen following careful review of each nominee’s:
- Artistic accomplishments and demonstrated potential
- Academic performance
- Dependability, responsibility, and motivation
- Letters of recommendation
Portfolio Submission
Applicants must submit a visual portfolio showing examples of their creative work. The portfolio should be provided as a PowerPoint file containing no more than ten (10) slides with photographs of the student’s artwork.
Award
One scholarship is awarded annually. The decision considers the criteria above, and the award is a single, non-renewable scholarship accompanied by a cash prize, a copy of Dr. Dietz’s book, and a sample of Ronna Bucci’s creative work.
