Rules & Regulations
- Only online applications are accepted.
- Scholarships are available to full-time or part-time students in good standing who are enrolled in an ABFSE- or Canadian-accredited institution/program. Applicants must be currently attending classes and actively pursuing a degree in funeral service.
- IMPORTANT: Students who are enrolled but have not yet started their coursework at the time of application are not eligible to apply.
- Both new applicants and those who have applied in the past but have not received a scholarship from the Foundation are welcome to apply.
- Foundation scholarships depend on available funds and are not renewable; a candidate can only receive a Foundation scholarship once.
- Foundation scholarships are exclusively for mortuary science/funeral service studies.
- Funds are sent directly to the school; the Funeral Service Foundation will not make payments directly to the student under any circumstances.
- Funds can be used for tuition, fees, books, and supplies.
- If a scholarship recipient declines the award, alternates may be chosen.
- The Foundation does not offer loan programs, vocational grants, or assistance for graduate study.
- The Funeral Service Foundation will only acknowledge receipt of completed applications and reserves the right to disregard unsigned or incomplete applications without further notification to the applicant.
- If a student discontinues their enrollment in the school for any reason, the remaining/unused scholarship funds must be returned to the Foundation only, cannot be transferred to another school, and cannot be paid to the student personally.
- A prolonged serious illness or injury that would postpone participation in the program may be considered a valid reason for reserving an award. The Foundation’s Board of Trustees may set time limits and other restrictions. Other leaves of absence will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
- All decisions made by The Funeral Service Foundation regarding awards are final.
