Coast Guard Exchange Scholarship Program

Introduction
To support the educational goals of the Coast Guard community, the Coast Guard Exchange (CGX) created the CGX Scholarship Program to help dependent children of Coast Guard-affiliated personnel pursue undergraduate studies. Each year the program awards one-time scholarships of $2,000 to top applicants. The total number of awards in any given year is subject to available funding. Application Deadline
All applications and accompanying documentation must be received by the CGX Scholarship Committee no later than 28 February (current year). This deadline is firm; no extensions will be granted.
Who May Apply
Eligible applicants are dependent children of the following Coast Guard-related groups:
- Active duty and reserve Coast Guard members
- Military retirees affiliated with the Coast Guard
- Current civilian Coast Guard employees in NAF (Non-Appropriated Fund) and APF (Appropriated Fund) positions
- Current members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary
Additional eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be in their final year of high school or home schooling, scheduled to graduate, and intend to enroll full-time in college the following academic year. Individuals who have already graduated from high school are not eligible.
- The scholarship is intended for undergraduate study at an accredited college or university. Awards will not be made for nonacademic or certificate programs.
- Candidates who have accepted appointments to the U.S. service academies (USAFA, USNA, USMA, USCGA, or USMMA) are not eligible for this scholarship.
Selection Criteria
Recipients are chosen based on demonstrated academic performance and a combination of accomplishments, interests, involvement, and leadership in both school and community/volunteer activities.
