SWR Foundation Student Scholarships

Introduction
The SWR Foundation’s primary goal is to provide academic scholarships to develop a skilled, educated workforce for the sealant, waterproofing, and restoration sectors. Students enrolled in accredited colleges, universities, community colleges, or trade schools are invited to apply. Applicants must demonstrate that their chosen degree or course of study is directly applicable to the sealant, waterproofing, or restoration industry. The SWR Institute relies on scholarship recipients to help meet industry staffing needs.

Scholarship award details
- The SWR Foundation Board of Directors will decide how many scholarships are given and the award amounts.
- No student may receive more than $5,000 in total scholarship funds from the Foundation over the course of their academic career.
- Typical awards are $1,000 or $2,000 per recipient.
- These scholarships are intended to support and encourage qualified students to pursue or continue a career in construction, with emphasis on sealants, waterproofing, and restoration.

Who is eligible
- Any student enrolled full time at an accredited trade school, two-year community college, college, or university may apply.
- The applicant’s program of study must be relevant to the sealant, waterproofing, or restoration industry.

Notification and disbursement
- All applicants will receive written notice of the Foundation’s decision.
- Once the recipient’s registration is verified at the institution listed on the application, the Foundation will issue a check in the student’s name and send it directly to the registrar’s office or the campus financial aid office.

Deadlines
- The application must be received at SWR Foundation headquarters at least ninety (90) days before the start date of the Fall semester for which the scholarship would apply.
- Applications are also expected by April 30 of the current calendar year.

Application instructions
- Complete every item on the application form. If a question cannot be answered, provide a brief explanation in the space provided.
- Send all required documents to SWR Foundation Headquarters. Electronic submissions are accepted; documents may be emailed to info@swrionline.org.

Required documents (all items below must be included)
1. A typed and signed personal statement (no more than 500 words) describing your activities, interests, any anticipated employment, your prospective field of study, and the career path you intend to pursue.
2. A detailed outline of your proposed program of study demonstrating your intent to pursue education in construction, specifically in the sealants, waterproofing, or restoration field.
3. Official high school or college transcripts. (If you have attended college full-time for at least two semesters, high school transcripts are not required.)
4. For high school applicants: a typed statement from an instructor familiar with your interest in a construction career. For current college students: a letter of recommendation from your department head or dean.
5. Two typed letters of recommendation from individuals such as instructors or current/past employers. It is preferred (though not required) that one letter come from someone working in the sealant, waterproofing, or restoration industry (for example: an employer in the industry, a local consultant, an architect, an engineer, or a contractor).
