Overview
Georgia REALTORS® is providing a $1,000 undergraduate scholarship for students pursuing a major in real estate or a closely related field. One new recipient is chosen for each academic year. The award may be renewed annually for up to three additional years (maximum of four awards per recipient).
Important dates and submission
- Application deadline: April 5 each year for the following academic year.
- Academic year definition: August 1 through July 31.
- Submit the completed application and all required documents by email to the Scholarship Foundation at scholarships@garealtor.com.
Eligibility
- Must be a full-time undergraduate student at an accredited college or university located in Georgia (public or private).
- Major must be in real estate or a related discipline.
- Applicants must be enrolled or officially planning to begin college for the upcoming academic year (Aug 1–Jul 31). Applicants do not need to be first-year students.
Award details
- One new $1,000 scholarship is awarded each academic year (Aug 1 through July 31).
- The scholarship can be renewed up to three times, for a total of four yearly awards.
- Recipients are chosen by the Scholarship Committee Trustees.
Permitted and prohibited uses of funds
- Allowed: tuition, fees, meal plans, on-campus housing fees and other school-related expenses.
- Not allowed: travel costs and off-campus living expenses.
Application requirements (must include)
1. Documentation of any awards you have received (if applicable).
2. Academic record:
- If you were a high school student within the past five (5) years: email a certified copy of your high school transcripts to scholarships@garealtor.com. Transcripts must be sent either directly from your school’s counseling office or include each page signed by your guidance counselor.
- If you were not a high school student within the past five (5) years: include a résumé covering your academic and/or employment history for the past five (5) years.
3. Essay: a 500–600 word statement outlining your college and career goals and explaining why you deserve this scholarship.
4. Two letters of recommendation: one from a teacher or professor and one from a non-family member. Each letter must be signed and include the recommender’s contact information.
Selection
All applications will be reviewed and finalists selected by the Scholarship Committee Trustees.
