Ada and Helmuth Schroeder Scholarship

Overview
This scholarship supports Minnesota 4-H members who are preparing to begin their freshman year at a college or university located in Minnesota. Seven applicants will each receive a one-time award of $1,000 to help cover education-related costs such as tuition, textbooks, room and board, and similar expenses.
Eligibility and award use
- Open to Minnesota 4-H members entering their first year of undergraduate study at a Minnesota institution.
- Awards are paid once, in the amount of $1,000, and intended to assist with education expenses (for example: tuition, books, and housing).
Selection criteria
A review committee will consider each candidate’s academic record, level of involvement in 4-H, and demonstrated leadership through roles and positions held within 4-H.
How to apply
- Submit the Ada and Helmuth Schroeder Scholarship application online.
- Include an official high school transcript (uploaded with the application).
- Provide two letters of recommendation (uploaded): one from a teacher or academic advisor, and one from an Extension educator, 4-H program coordinator, or volunteer leader. Both references must be non-relatives.
Notification and payment
Awardees will be informed of decisions in June. Scholarship funds will be issued the following January as a check made payable directly to the college or university the recipient will attend (the award will not be paid to the student).
