Overview
These scholarships may be applied toward attendance at a Texas vocational/technical school or any accredited Texas college or university. Applicants must be members of 4‑H or FFA. A degree in agriculture or an agriculture‑related field is not required.
Who is eligible
- Current member of 4‑H or FFA
- Texas resident
- Has participated in the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo at least once
- Will complete high school diploma requirements in the spring of the current year
- Plans to enroll for at least 12 credit hours per semester
- Has taken the ACT or SAT
- Scholarship must be claimed within one year of high school graduation; otherwise the award is forfeited
Award details
- Scholarships are paid at $1,250 per semester.
- Awards may be renewed each semester for up to eight semesters (maximum total award $10,000).
- After the first semester, recipients must satisfy the renewal criteria listed below to continue receiving funds.
Renewal requirements
- Maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester
- Submit a renewal application that includes an unofficial transcript or grade report by the posted deadline; materials received after the deadline will result in loss of funding for that semester
Required application materials (complete packet)
- Scholarship application form
- One page, handwritten personal narrative
- Application support pages detailing activities, leadership experiences, community service, and recognition/awards
- High school transcript showing SAT and/or ACT scores, GPA, and class rank
- Three letters of recommendation (one letter must be from the applicant’s AST and/or CEA)
Important: Include all documents together in one submission. Do not mail transcripts or recommendation letters separately.
