Overview
Scholarship recipients are selected at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee of the Women’s Overseas Service League Board of Directors. Awards typically range from $500.00 to $1,000.00 per year. A recipient may be eligible to receive the award for a second year provided she continues to meet the progress and reporting expectations described in the scholarship award criteria.
Who may apply
Awards are offered to women who meet all of the following:
- Demonstrate a clear commitment to advancing careers in the military or other public service fields.
- Have shown that commitment through relevant life or work experiences.
- Have completed at least 12 semester hours (or 18 quarter hours) of college-level coursework with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
- Are accepted into a degree program (Associate degree or higher) at an accredited institution; the program can be academic, professional, or technical.
- Will enroll for at least 6 semester hours (or 9 quarter hours) each academic term.
- Will maintain the academic standards required by the award.
Application requirements
Complete the Scholarship Application form in full and submit all supporting materials as specified on the form. Required documents include: resume, official or unofficial transcripts, essays, and letters of reference (or other references) as listed on the application.
Deadline
To be considered for the next academic year, your application package must be postmarked no later than March 1.
Decision and renewal
Final selections are made by the Scholarship Committee. Renewal for a second year is contingent upon satisfactory academic progress and compliance with the reporting requirements outlined in the scholarship criteria.
