Overview
This scholarship is intended for students who are children or stepchildren of Marines (or certain Navy personnel who served with Marines). Applicants must meet academic, financial, and enrollment criteria and must turn in a fully completed application and all required supporting documents by the posted deadline.
Who is eligible
- Be the child or stepchild of one of the following:
- A U.S. Marine who is active duty, in the Reserve, or a veteran.
- A U.S. Marine who was killed while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.
- A U.S. Navy Corpsman, Navy Chaplain, or Religious Program Specialist who served with, was attached to, or was killed while serving with a U.S. Marine Corps unit.
- Maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00.
- Demonstrate financial need, with family-adjusted gross income of $129,000 or less.
- Be enrolled in, or plan to enroll in, an accredited institution that participates in federal student aid programs.
- Submit the scholarship application and all required documents by the application deadline.
Disqualifying conditions
An applicant will be ineligible if any of the following apply:
- The military parent or the applicant veteran does not have an honorable discharge.
- The applicant already holds a bachelor’s (undergraduate) degree.
- The applicant or any awarded scholar is attending a Federal Service Academy.
- The applicant or awarded scholar is enrolled at an institution that is not listed in College Navigator or otherwise not eligible for federal funding.
- The military stepparent is no longer legally married to the applicant’s biological parent.
- The applicant will not have a high school diploma by August 1, 2025. (The program cannot support dual-enrollment or early-access arrangements.)
