Overview
An anonymous benefactor from Isabella County established the Art Scholarship to assist local graduating seniors who intend to pursue studies in Art or Art History. The award recognizes students who have demonstrated a genuine enthusiasm for the visual arts and who plan to continue that commitment as they begin postsecondary education and, ultimately, a career.
Eligible Fields of Study
Applicants who plan to major in any of the following areas are eligible: drawing, ceramics, painting, graphic design, photography, printmaking, sculpture, typography, weaving/fiber design, art history, or art education (preparing to be an art instructor). The scholarship acknowledges that artistic practice and scholarship take many forms.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a graduating senior from a high school located in Isabella County.
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Must intend to enroll at an accredited college, university, or vocational/trade school.
- Must plan to major in one of the approved art-related disciplines listed above.
Selection Preferences
Preference will be given to applicants who:
- Intend to pursue a degree specifically in photography, art history, or art education (art instructor); and
- Communicate a clear passion for art in their personal essay.
Application Process and Important Dates
- The application cycle for 2025 is closed.
- The next application will open on January 1, 2026.
- All submissions must be completed through the foundation’s online scholarship portal and received by Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 11:59 PM.
- Applicants do not need to produce multiple paper copies of materials; school officials can submit transcripts electronically on the student’s behalf.
- Please note the online portal asks additional questions to properly assess eligibility for each scholarship offered, so applicants should be prepared to provide thorough responses.
