Who is eligible
To be considered, applicants must:
- Be U.S. citizens;
- Be enrolled in good standing in a four‑year engineering program accredited by ABET; and
- Be entering or continuing as a junior in the upcoming fall semester.
What evaluators will consider
Applications are judged using the following factors:
- Academic record (GPA);
- Practical experience such as internships or co‑op positions and other extracurricular involvement;
- Two recommendations from faculty members;
- An essay on ethics.
Application materials required
Applicants should submit all items required by the Foundation application, including (but not limited to):
- Proof of U.S. citizenship;
- Official or unofficial transcript demonstrating current enrollment and GPA in an ABET‑accredited four‑year engineering program;
- Confirmation of junior‑year status for the coming fall term;
- Two faculty recommendation letters; and
- The ethics essay asked for in the application instructions.
Award disbursement and post‑award obligations
- The scholarship will be paid in a single payment to the recipient’s institution at the start of the junior year fall semester.
- Recipients will be asked, upon completion of their degree, to provide a report to the NSPE Education Foundation Trustees describing how the scholarship supported their education and outlining plans for professional development, ethical practice, and pursuit of licensure.
- If a recipient fails to complete the academic year as required, the scholarship will be forfeited.
